The Boreal GasFinder MC is a multi-path system for monitoring a maximum of eight paths at one time. Each path could be stack/duct, open or process, or even a combination of these. The GasFinder MC is mostly used for fixed installations and in hazardous areas.

Via the multi-path features of GasFinder MC, it is now possible to provide complete perimeter coverage at relatively low cost. This unit is gas specific, meaning there are no interferences. With path lengths from one to 500 metres and response times as fast as one second, this multiple path open path gas detection unit is robust, reliable and proven. It also offers easy set-up, no calibration needs and no consumables. With built-in self-diagnostics, this gas detection system is convenient and low maintenance.

Both the GasFinder as well as the GasFinder MC utilise the Tunable Diode Laser (TDL) technology. The GasFinder MC is has a Central Control Unit which is contained within a 19 inch rack cabinet. Also contained within the unit are drive electronics, microcomputers, the laser diode, and the detector signal processor. The last light is transported to the transmitter heads via a fiberoptic cable, the beam is then director along a path to the reflector. The light that is returns is then collected on a non-biased photodetector.

The device can be used for a range of industrial applications basically as a complete monitoring solution. Three configurations, each geared towards a certain application are possible of the transmitter heads. One option is an Open Path Remote Head that can be used to roofline monitoring, emergency or leak monitoring and long path monitoring. A Cross Duct Probe is perfect for monitoring of large diameter stack or duct based process control. An ASA 200 flange will fit the cross duct probe by design. An In-Situ Probe option comes up to a meter long and is good at stack monitoring whilst the Extractive Multipass Cell has the capability to allow gas samples to be removed from the process and then analysed offline. 10 metres of path length is provided by the multipass cell.
